Use Cases
EME can be used to implement a wide variety of integrations. Here are several Use Cases. For each Use Case, you can click on the Workflow thumbnail to view an animation of how to create the Workflow steps:
Managed File Transfer (Inbound) - This Use Case is for a trading partner that uploads files to the enterprise's Protocol Proxy and the enterprise wants a copy in the secure network on the file system.
Integrate encrypted XML invoice from a supplier into ERP - This Use Case extends the MFT integration to B2B integration with a trading partner sending an invoice in an industry-standard XML format. The integration transforms the message to enterprise format and integrates the ERP.
Integrate EDI X12 invoice from a supplier into ERP - This Use Case is for B2B integration with a trading partner that sends an invoice in EDI X12 XML format. The integration transforms the message from EDI to intermediate XML and then to enterprise format and integrates the ERP. Both the trading partner's EDI format and the internal enterprise format are stored in the Business Documents Processor (BDP).
Send confidential engineering specifications - This Use Case takes advantage of EME's support for Large File Transfer to send a bundle of engineer specifications to a trading partner. The specs are proprietary, so we use PGP encryption. EME and Protocol Proxy use streaming to handle large files.
Send EDI X12 210 Load Tender Motor - This Use Case is for an enterprise that wants to take advantage of the dominance of traditional EDI in transportation and logistics. Their order management system delivers the order as a XML file that EME picks up, transforms to X12 and makes available for Web service, FTP, or Proxy Portal pickup.
